This is an Instagram story I posted yesterday after a certain corporate business I’ve used in the past utilized fear-mongering tactics to scare me into participation and their dealings. Fear is simply not a fruit of the Spirit and I’m here today to tell you about it.
I’m so grateful for the Holy Spirit because immediately discernment was activated on me and I was able to tell the emails they sent me were fake and scammy. Still, I prayed and sought wise counsel and legal counsel. Holy Spirit told me to “ignore it”, and seconds later our lawyer responded “Ignore it, it’s fake.”! I was laughing!
Praise God, His truth always comes out.
I want to speak to you today about fear and courage.
Some of you are facing similar situations. Where fear seems to be the overwhelming response in your life.
Some of you may even find it weird, when few months ago, you don’t even retaliate to the enemy’s nonsense.
It can be different factors that affect that- maybe you’ve gone back to habitual sins you’ve already been set free from in the past? Maybe you’ve unintentionally unlocked the door and welcomed demonic strongholds when you’ve watched videos on Tiktok- witchcraft? Or you’ve listened to music worshipping other idols. Or participated in activities (yoga? Bowing to idols in temples?). Whatever it may be, fear has taken a hold of you.
I want to speak truth to you right now- fear is a tactic of the enemy. He is a liar. He lies and he lies so good, he can deceive you.
1. Fear is not from God.
”For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.“
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
2. The real enemy is not the one you see.
”For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.“
Ephesians 6:12-13 NIV
3. Be alert
”And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.“
Ephesians 6:18 NIV
4. Be discerning
”So be alert and discerning. Remember that for three years, night and day, I’ve never stopped warning each of you, pouring out my heart to you with tears.“
Acts 20:31 TPT
5. Let prayer be a usual and everyday thing, not a “post event” reaction.
I heard this from a post once, that when we have the habit of praying, we won’t be found lost but already empowered and fighting from a place of faith. The thought was that anyway. I believe it! We don’t have to chase after faith anymore, just do and obey what the Bible already says, so when circumstances happen, we don’t lose faith, but we are already standing in faith.
From the situation I was in yesterday, I didn’t even allow fear enter me, but I rebuked it immediately and was able to speak faith and allow the Holy Spirit’s discernment and wisdom win over my mind and heart. I was able to respond not out of fear, but from my position as His child. I was right that it was a lie and fear tactic, and was able to act appropriately. I wasn’t influenced by anxiety, I could easily have responded to the scam, instead I was clear minded and responded with authority.
What situation are you facing today, girl?
Be reminded of who you are and your authority as a child of God.
If you have prayer requests, comment below! I’d love to respond in prayer.
